Chor backs Liow in court move

By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Sacked MCA central committee member Datuk Chor Chee Heung said today that Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai should go to court because it was unclear who is now the party deputy-president.

“I feel this problem needs to be resolved through the process of law which is more just. As of now, we do not know who is the rightful deputy-president. Therefore Liow needs a court declaration from the high court,” he told reporters in Parliament today.

The position of MCA deputy president was restored yesterday to Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek two and a half months after he was sacked and just nineteen days after Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was appointed deputy.

Dr Chua’s son was confirmed as a new central committee member along with Datuk Donald Lim and Tan Chin Ming to replace Chor Chee Hueng and three others that were sacked by Ong yesterday.

The decision to reinstate Dr Chua was made following a declaration by the Registrar of Societies that the deputy president position was not vacant following the results of the October 10 EGM that saw Dr Chua’s suspension overturned but his bid to be restored as deputy president rejected.

Liow said that he reserves the right to challenge the RoS decision and reserves the right to seek a court declaration to declare the RoS decision null and void.

The EGM to push for fresh polls by one third of the central committee was also rejected.

Chor said today that he did not know if he should accept the sacking but admitted that it may have been a punishment for him.

“In party politics, especially the constitution has a provision where the president or chairman has the right the appoint anybody that is qualified. I rather not comment because I know that the party leader has the right to appoint.

“I cannot say that I have accepted the sacking. If I said that I do not accept then what can I do? So I just leave this matter to the president.

“Maybe this is a punishment for me. I might have given an opinion which is not the same as his. Maybe the president saw things differently,” he explained.

He added that his criticisms have always been sincere and never intended to tarnish anybody.

“I can guarantee that all this while the opinion that I have given towards the party and other party leaders were sincere. I never had the intention to tarnish anybody or the party’s image. All of the criticisms I have given for 30 years have been sincere,” he said.

Chor stressed that he will always be loyal to the party and will not do anything to harm the party.

“We cannot take action or do anything that can harm the party’s image but we hope the party leaders are wise enough to make important decisions. If they feel they can do anything without taking other people in consideration, I believe this is not the correct direction because it will damage the people’s perception of the party especially the Chinese community,” he said.

MCA is a sad episode. If from day 1, OTK accepted the election process that saw him as No 1 and CSL his Deputy......... why cant he live and let live?? CSL has his weakness, dont us all have ours?? Come on, let's be humble and always see the bigger picture. MCA is there for the Chinese Community, so hey leaders do your work as elected representatives. Stop the circus acts, grow up please!! What are the customary practices? Just follow them and all shall be ok. Let CSL be a minister because MCA No 2 always is Minister and he was a good minister who did his job well. LTL is no where compared to CSL as MOH we all can see that. LTL should be demoted to a Deputy Minister and let him gain more training to be patient and not rock the boat just so he can be in the position that he got into from back door. He should have been graceful by handing back the No 2 to CSL smiled and said welcome back to CSL and all the negavities will not have happened. Yes, send him to a deputy minister level so that he, Wee and Chew MF can all go and spa each other and hopefully MCA will be more peaceful soonest. Who knows the Wanita members will vote a new Chief during the next election and so will Wee be history. And, the whole Chinese Community may forgive OTK and CSL and support them as the true leaders of the Chinese Community. Remember you are all there because of us fellow Chinese. Give the Unity Plan a chance please.

DS Liow Tiong Lai I would like to believe that deep inside you are still the noble man who joined the MCA because you wanted to serve the Chinese community. It has not been easy for hardened and committed personalities like DS OTK and DS CSL to compromise for not only the intrinsic MCA party interests but also how anc why the MCA has to continue to interact with UMNO with mutual respect within BN in the interests of nation and equivocal community. The problem is usually not leaders of substantive calibre and positive motivation. The greatest problem comes from their support groups who each have their own personal agenda and subjectivities, some legitimate and politically understandable, many deplorable and self seeking.
They will never understand yet and that is why they are at that level of party authority and are so impatient and will be like the infamous and maligned Chinese businessman a number of our people are. That is the also the problem and dilemma of BN as incumbent Federal government and the fasr emerging problem in Pakatan in every state they presently rule so precariously .
DS Liow holds the key to more complete unity within the MCA and also his own political future and qualified higher leadership in MCA. His unconditional acceptance of DS CSL's return as DP will re-enhance his somewhat lost or at best dented image. As for others, the price of what is in essence treachery has to be met which hopefully may be considered with perspective magnanimity from top leadership within the limits of the overall unity plan. But if recalcitrants as they should be now called if they continue as such, they should be chopped off completely as there is no other choice if BN is to survive as a operational and manageable whole within the context of truly and transparent 1Malaysia.

Yes LTL you can reserve the right to challenge the RoS decision and reserve the right to seek a court declaration. Likewise MCA reserve the right to sack you and the other 2 Brutuses.

Justice and fairness finally prevail. All those who are involved in the political plottings and intrigue should repent and give the unity plan the time, space and support to succeed. Liow, Wee, Chew, Chor and Co should realise that their schemes are now exposed and their game is up. So please desist from all pretexts and sincerely put your hands on the plough - for the good of the community and country.

"....we hope the party leaders are wise enough to make important decisions" mean how dare of him to sack me a deputy minister. This is MCA double talk. He is hurt and hopping mad. He will try to get even. Watch out OTK.

MCA has become a circus. How to rely on them to fight for Chinese rights?

It's for sure this guy'll back Liow to fight for, er, actually, "himself" and most importantly, his deputy minister post! He has through many occasions manifested what he really wanted (and always long for) was ministerial position what!?
